We want to help people move from a state of existing to a state of living and thriving, being the best version of themselves they can be.

About Peter

Peter has worked as a psychologist since 1987 and has endorsement with the Psychology Board in Clinical Psychology. He completed additional studies in Physiotherapy in 1997, gaining an appreciation of the mind and body interaction in life and in the treatment of health issues.

His training and experience have provided him with particular skills in providing psychological treatment to people adjusting to medical conditions and chronic disease management. He has a special interest in assisting people diagnosed with cancer and their families. This is complemented by his experience in treating adults with anxiety and depression. adjusting to significant life events, trauma reactions, relationship challenges and feelings of grief and loss. He has worked in community teams and private practice assisting people experiencing mental health concerns and assisting people with a range of disabilities including neurological conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, and brain injury. He has significant experience in inpatient and ambulatory rehabilitation units, creating a cancer rehabilitation program and involvement in a cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program.

He commenced Wellness Through Health in 2022 to adopt a holistic approach to working with people, adopting psychological principles, drawn from mindfulness, positive psychology, cognitive behavioural therapy, Gottman-based relationship skills and acceptance & commitment therapy combined with sleep hygiene and exercise. This can be complemented with hypnosis to assist people to make changes in their life.

In 2016 he completed a systematic review investigating the unmet needs of cancer survivors. Through this research and his own clinical practice, he is aware of multiple gaps in the support provided to people experiencing a cancer diagnosis and other health issues and wanted to address these gaps.
